Project Description:
Western was hired by Vornado Realty Trust to perform façade restoration at one of their most iconic buildings in Midtown Manhattan, the Fuller Building at 595 Madison Ave. After decades of exposure to often harsh NYC weather conditions the building developed leaks, cracks, and delamination on all of its elevations. The façades are clad with limestone, terracotta, granite, and brick. Western’s scope included complex rigging of entire building, replacement of terracotta, extensive limestone patching, waterproofing and general masonry work.

The project was challenging from a logistical perspective as it required access to around 50 setbacks through occupied office space. The project completed in September of 2021 ahead of schedule despite significant work increase. The successful completion of 595 Madison Ave demonstrates Western’s commitment to teamwork and collaboration with everyone involved in the project. Western worked very closely with Vornado’s building management and Gilsanz Murray Steficek (GMS) teams to make this achievement a reality.
