Project Description:
Located at Pier 17, South Street Seaport, the neo-classical designed structure consists of a corrugated metal façade, with decorative zinc pilasters. Originally serving as the Fulton Fish Market the structure had been demolished and rebuilt. The rebuilt structure unfortunately suffered a fire and sustained damage during Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Having been reconceived as a public market, Nicholson and Galloway was hired to perform the following work: new air vapor barrier at the façade and cavity insulation, aluminum corrugated cladding with a kynar baked on paint, decorative window surrounds, canopies, and ornate aluminum cornice.
Nicholson & Galloway also fabricated stamped elements that were mechanically attached to the façade cladding to match the historic conditions and at the base of the building we furnished and installed new fiberglass reinforced concrete panels with a polyurethane coating on the exterior face.
